About NASCP

The National AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, and STIs Control Programme (NASCP) operates under the Department of Public Health, Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH).
Its mission is to guide and coordinate the creation and successful execution of Nigeria’s national policies, guidelines, and procedures focused on preventing HIV infections and improving care for people living with HIV.
In partnership with the Global Fund, NASCP is starting the second phase of its National HIV Clinical Mentorship Programme across 15 states.
NASCP is looking to hire Clinical Mentors across several states to support HIV service delivery improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer on-site clinical mentorship to healthcare workers based on national HIV treatment guidelines for adults and children.
  • Conduct training during clinical consultations to help healthcare providers remove barriers to ART access and support patient care directly when needed.
  • Provide continuous medical education sessions as needed, following national protocols.
  • Organize and deliver capacity-building workshops using both in-person and virtual methods like project ECHO.
  • Support and facilitate ECHO video conferencing sessions with healthcare workers.
  • Collaborate to design SOPs for HIV clinical services at health facilities, helping improve patient flow, referrals, and defaulter tracking.
  • Submit monthly reports highlighting mentorship activities, findings, and service improvement recommendations.
  • Work closely with the State Clinical Mentorship Team (SCMT), SASCP, and National HIV program representatives.
  • Perform any other tasks linked to HIV clinical mentorship.

Requirements and Skills

  • A Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) is required.
  • Postgraduate/Masters qualification in Public Health, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Obstetrics is an added advantage.
  • Active registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria is mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of practical experience in clinical HIV care and ART provision.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in planning and implementing HIV clinical care projects.
  • Experience in clinical training delivery for HIV programs.
  • Research experience in HIV projects will be an added benefit.
  • Good understanding of national and international HIV clinical care trends.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary clinical teams.
  • Must be willing to travel across assigned regions within the state.

Accountability

The Clinical Mentors will report directly to the State AIDS and STIs Control Programme (SASCP) and the respective State Ministries of Health.

Remuneration

Successful candidates will receive competitive fees based on their qualifications and experience in line with the approved rates for this project.
