Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Country General & Deputy General Manager, this role provides critical support and expert guidance for port operations within CMA CGM Group.
The core responsibility involves overseeing, directing, and optimizing the activities of the Operations team, including transshipment processes.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
- Define both team-wide and individual goals
- Oversee team structure and staff training
- Enforce group policies, tools, and deadlines
- Ensure operational compliance for all vessel-related activities
- Monitor handling of specialized cargo (e.g., HAZ, Reefers, OOG)
- Maintain KPIs as required by upper management
- Respond to inquiries from internal departments or regional offices
- Validate that team duties—including manifests, transshipment, and documentation—are well-executed
- Supervise interactions with SSC/GBS and other service providers
Operational Coordination:
- Lead weekly meetings for transshipment tracking and ensure accuracy of records
- Analyze branch operations and report to top management
- Interface with terminals, port authorities, and other CMA CGM departments
- Safeguard the company’s interests during port-related negotiations
- Authorize payments and monitor operational costs
- Promote EDI adoption for full digital process integration
- Develop and apply standardized operational protocols aligned with corporate guidelines
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Merchant Navy School) in logistics or maritime studies
- 5+ years of hands-on maritime operations experience
- Solid professional network within the shipping industry
- Proven leadership skills and a history of managing teams
- Effective communicator, adaptable, proactive, and dependable under pressure
