Ememfiele made the remarks at a ceremony at the presidential palace on Monday to launch Nigeria’s Central Bank Digital Currency, stating that the site had seen a surge in users.

The CBN Governor further stated that the eNaira and the physical Naira are both legal tender with the same value and will be accepted throughout Nigeria.
The eNaira is the same Naira with considerably more options, as the tagline plainly states. Like the physical Naira, the eNaira is a legal tender in Nigeria and a CBN liability. He also stated that the eNaira and Naira will have the same value and will always be exchanged at one naira for one eNaira.
Emefiele also stated that the eNaira platform has received over 2.5 million daily visits since its launch, while promising strict adherence to the anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism standards in order to maintain the integrity and stability of Nigeria’s payment system.
