Network Service Delivery Engineer

Job Summary
The role of the Network Service Delivery Engineer includes monitoring networks, handling incident and change management, collaborating with service vendors, and troubleshooting using various network systems. The engineer ensures effective fault identification, service restoration, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support on weekdays (8 am – 5 pm), with flexibility to work overtime or weekends when needed.
- Monitor key customer services on MainOne’s network via the NMS and share updates on service status and performance.
- Log, update, and track trouble tickets (TT) for customer faults until resolution.
- Diagnose and resolve faults affecting customer service quickly and effectively.
- Offer remote assistance for network issues, liaising with MainOne’s vendor partners, and escalating unresolved issues to Level 3 support.
- Ensure compliance with NOC operational guidelines and procedures.
- Identify performance issues in customer services and coordinate solutions with relevant teams.
- Ensure timely and proper documentation of incident tickets and network activities.
- Escalate and follow up on unresolved tickets to meet resolution timelines and quality service delivery.
- Handle customer support calls and coordinate with internal teams using SOPs to resolve problems.
- Oversee changes to customer networks in line with approved protocols.
- Meet network KPIs such as 99.99% availability and 4–6 hours MTTR.
- Guide managed vendors in resolving technical issues and delivering quality support.
- Maintain accurate documentation of new service activation and circuit details.
- Collaborate with support vendors and other engineers on trouble tickets until resolved.
- Provide quarterly technical training to vendor teams.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Ghana Transmission and CLS Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications.
- 1-2 years of experience in configuring and maintaining fiber optic, Ethernet, and IP networks.
- CCNA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Solid understanding of GPON, FTTx, and related technologies.
Skills and Competencies
- Hands-on knowledge of DWDM, OTN, GPON, SONET, and SDH networks.
- Ability to understand technical layouts and implement solutions.
- Microwave and L1/L2 troubleshooting experience with Cisco and Ciena devices.
- Understanding of routing protocols like OSPF and networking basics like VLANs and TCP/IP.
- Strong Microsoft Office proficiency and technical reporting skills.
- Capacity to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure.
- Experience with testing tools like OTDR, power meters, and analyzers.
