The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced the registration of unemployed persons in the 20 local government areas of Lagos State.
The registration exercise aims to address mass unemployment and reduce the reliance on white-collar jobs that cannot meet the needs of the growing number of graduates in Nigeria.
Dates and Venue of the Registration Exercise
The exercise will hold between April 17 and April 28, 2023, at the NDE office located at 7, Barikisu Iyede Street, Onike, Yaba, and the 20 local government areas in Lagos State.

The registration exercise aims to gather data on the number of unemployed persons in Lagos State.
The data collected will aid in creating policies and programs to decrease unemployment rates across the state and the nation.
The Role of the NDE
The NDE is an organization established by the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1986 to curb mass unemployment and reduce the demand for white-collar jobs that are not adequate for the increasing number of graduates in the country.
The organization trains unemployed individuals in vocational and entrepreneurial skills to enable them to establish and manage their own businesses.
Statement from Lagos State NDE Coordinator
The Lagos State NDE office coordinator, Mrs. Serena Edward, in a statement, emphasized the importance of the registration exercise in helping the government to address the issue of unemployment in Lagos State. She urged unemployed persons in the state to take advantage of the exercise and register to be included in the database of unemployed persons.
