As part of this program, NALDA will focus on encouraging Nigerian youth to participate in the agricultural sector. The ultimate goal of the project is to encourage, empower and mentor 1000 farmers from 774 LGA in Nigeria each year. The aim of this program is to reduce all aspects of agriculture. The pilot program begins with the empowerment of 100 young farmers from 3 LGAs in 16 countries for a total of 4,800 new young farmers, including FCT.
The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) is responsible for this program. NALDA is an institution that was founded in 1992 but died out in 2000. However, under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, it was revived to fulfill its mandate of developing rural communities through agriculture and making agriculture a business and source of wealth creation for the country.
