Field Fiber Engineer

Job Summary
The Field Fiber Engineer will handle the installation, upkeep, and repair of fiber-optic systems on site. You’ll work directly in the field to support rollouts, activate new customers, and fix any technical issues, ensuring seamless service for end users.
Responsibilities
- Install fiber-optic cables for FTTH, FTTB, and backbone networks
- Splice, terminate, and test fibers using OTDR tools, power meters, and splicing machines
- Carry out site surveys and compile technical reports
- Set up and configure customer equipment (ONUs, routers)
- Diagnose and resolve connectivity problems for both residential and business clients
- Ensure tidy routing and secure termination of all fiber cables
- Coordinate with NOC and support teams for status updates and issue resolution
- Follow safety protocols and installation guidelines
- Keep accurate logs of all field activities and site visits
- Advise customers on basic care and operation of installed devices
Requirements
- HND or B.Eng in a relevant engineering discipline with practical experience
